So, what does a Panel and Paint Technician do...
Paint - Vehicle body repair, such as chips and scratches are the main responsibility of a Paint Sprayer and work at manufacturing sites, auto body repair centres or a mobile workshop.
As a Paint Sprayer you will be required to have a high level of accuracy and an eye for detail, excellent concentration as well as good levels of dexterity as you will be required to set up equipment, mix paint, prep vehicle surfaces before applying primer and paint. Qualified and experienced Paint Technicians work on colour identification, colour variant and surface preparation, with Senior Paint Technicians experienced in 3 stage pearlescent paint, paint defects and rectification. This experience can then lead to other opportunities within body repair, such as a Bodyshop Supervisor or Manager.
Panel - Assessment of damaged vehicle bodywork and deciding how best to repair. Working on the repair and replacement of various vehicle bodywork, removing dents in panels, repairing minor scratches, replacing vehicle body panels and welding new or repaired panels back into place.
As a Panel Repair Technician you will also be required to have a high level of accuracy and an eye for detail, excellent concentration as well as good levels of dexterity as you will be required to ensure the repair matches the rest of the vehicles bodywork and prepare the vehicles surface for a Paint Sprayer.
